The **Sheathing for a Roof** calculator computes the number of 4x8 sheets (32 ft² each) needed to cover the area of a roof (both sides of a gabled roof) based on the length and width of the area covered and the pitch.

**4x8s:** The calculator returns the number of 4x8 sheets needed to cover the roofs surface.

This formula is only accurate if the both gables have the same pitch, which puts the ridge in the middle. Unless the roofing area is very close to being perfectly divisible by 32 feet squared (the area of a 4x8), and additional sheet is added to the count to provide the correct number of sheets needed to be purchased allowing for the fractional part.

For roofs with different pitches, calculate each side ( roof - area (one side) ) separately.
