vCalc.Radial Acceleration (R,T)

The Radial Acceleration calculator computes the radial or centripetal acceleration (arad) of an orbiting body given the period, T,  and the radius, R

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose your preferred units (e.g. milliseconds or years) and enter the following:

  • (r)  Radius of the orbit.
  • (T) Period of the orbit.

The calculator computes the centripetal acceleration (arad) in meters per second.  This can be automatically converted to other acceleration units (e.g. feet / meters squared) via the pull-down menu.
