Are you used to seeing your gasoline prices in dollars per gallon, but now you're in Great Britain. You have two things against you. In Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales and North Ireland), they sell their gasoline by the litre and in Pounds Sterling (a.k.a. Great British Pounds  GBP). To make the conversion, you have to know how many liters are in a gallon and the current USD/GBP exchange rate. This calculator does all of this for you. It provides the U.S. dollar per gallon equivalent for pounds sterling per liter.
