The Math / Science
This equation uses the weight and purity of the coin (below) and the user entered numismatic value (adder), along with the current spot price of gold to determine the value of each coin. The user can enter a count (ct) for multiple coins.
A Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin is a bullion coin minted by the Royal Canadian Mint, made of 99.99% pure gold. First introduced in 1979, it’s one of the world’s most recognized gold coins, valued for its purity, quality, and iconic design. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (or King Charles III in newer issues), while the reverse showcases a detailed maple leaf, Canada’s national symbol. It comes in various sizes, typically 1 oz, but also 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and others. Widely used for investment and collecting, its value is tied to the spot price of gold plus a small premium.
