The Diagonal of a Box calculator computes the length of diagonal (D) based on the vertical (U) and horizontal (S) offsets and the run (R). plumbing1.png      Rolling Offset  of pipes

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose your prefered units and enter the following:

  • (U) - This is the Vertical offset
  • (S) - This is the Horizontal offset
  • (R) - This is the length of the run

Diagonal:  The calculator will return the length of the diagonal in inches.  However, this can be automatically converted to other length units (e.g. centimeters, feet) via the pull-down menu.

The Math

In the diagram above, let x be the diagonal of the S R rectangle:

                                             ` x = sqrt( R^2 + S^2)`
then the diagonal is simply

                                              `D = sqrt(x^2 +U^2)`
