vCalc.Earth - Period

The Period of the Earth's orbital around the Sun is 365.25636304 days.

The Math / Science

Kepler's 3rd Law of planetary motion states that the orbital period (T), mass of the system (M), the distance separating the objects (R), and the Universal Gravity Constant (G) are related in the following formula:

                             T² = (4π • R³)/(G • M)

In the case of the Earth's Period of Orbit, the mass of the system is the mass of the Sun plus the mass of the Earth, and the separation (R) is the mean radius of the Earth's orbit about the Sun.
