The Mean Circular Orbital Velocity calculator computes the mean velocity of an object in a circular orbit based on the radius (R) and the period (T).

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:Circular Motion.png

  • (R) This is the radius of the circular orbit
  • (T) This is the period of the circular orbit

Mean Circular Velocity (V):  The calculator returns the velocity in meters per second.  However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The equation for mean circular orbital velocity is:

            `V = (2•π•R)/T`
