The Pounds per Bushel calculator computes the average pounds per bushel based on the volume of grain and total weight of grain. Pounds per bushel is a good indicator of the moisture content. Grain is not ready for market until it has dried adequately to be sold by weight. See Market Read Grain Weights per Bushel below.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
Pounds per Bushel (PpB): The calculator returns the pounds per bushel. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
The formula for pounds per bushel is:
PpB = V / W
Many farm products have a market value based on a price per bushel. However, the grain must have a certain moisture content. For example, market ready corn is dried to 15.5% moisture and will weigh 56 pounds per bushel.
