The Heating Load and Water Flow calculator computes the ton of heat capacity associated with a volumetric flow of water and a change in temperature.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
- (q) Flow Rate of Water
- (ΔT) Change of Temperature.
- (cp) Specific Heat of Water
- (ρ) Mean Density of water
Heat Load (h): The calculator return the cooling/heating in BTUs per Hour. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
The Math / Science
Heat loads of fluids in BTUs/hour are computed as follows:
h = cp • ρ • q • ΔT
where;
- cp is the specific heat ( J /(kg K) )
- ρ is the mean density
- q is the flow rate
- ΔT is the change in temperature.
