The White Rice-to-Water Ratio calculator computes the amount of water in which one cooks white rice.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose your preferred units and enter the following:

• (dwr) This is the amount of dry white rice.

Water: The calculator returns how many cups of water you need.  However, cups can be automatically converted to other volume units (e.g.  fluid ounces, liters or gallons) via the pull-down menu.

### Cooking Directions

1. Bring water to a boil in saucepan or pot.
2. Reduce heat to a simmer.
3. Add rice and cover pot to cook until the rice is soft (tender) and has absorbed all the water.  This should take 15 to 19 minutes.
4. Remove from the stove for an additional 10 minutes with the cover still on to allow the rice to steam.

For large recipes, you can take your volume (answer provided here) and enter it into the Large Recipe Calculator (CLICK HERE) to see how much you need for a large batch (e.g. 20 times the recipe).
