The **Cost of Studs for a Room** calculator computes the cost of stud boards required for a room based on the length of the four walls and and on the unit price of the boards.

**INSTRUCTIONS:** Choose your preferred units and enter the following:

**l**) This is the length of the room (see diagram) - (
**w**) This is the width of the room (see diagram) - (
**oC**) This is the on-center spacing of the studs. A default of 16" is used, but you can override this value. - (
**uP**) This is the unit price of the boards used. Recent pricing of boards is listed below for estimating purposes.

The number and then Cost of the Studs required are computed and their cost is returned in U.S. dollars. However, this can be automatically converted into other currency units via the pull-down menu.

To compute the number of studs needed to frame a room, CLICK HERE. Note: the stud count includes the extra studs at the corners where the walls meet. These extra studs are use to create solid interior corners for drywall or other coverings.

You should used the pricing of boards that is truly available to you. However, a recent inquiry on the Internet for lumber shows the following prices for boards that could be used as framing studs. These values could be used in the unit pricing (uP) above.
