The Argument of Perigee calculator computes the argument of perigee (Argument of Periapsis - ω) based on the Nodal Vector (n) and Eccentricity Vector (e).

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:Orbital Parameters.png

  • (nx)  This is the x component of the nodal vector.
  • (ny)  This is the y component of the nodal vector.
  • (nz)  This is the z component of the nodal vector.
  • (ex)  This is the x component of the eccentricity vector.
  • (ey)  This is the y component of the eccentricity vector.
  • (ez)  This is the z component of the eccentricity vector.

Argument of Perigee (ω):  The calculator returns the argument of perigee in degrees.  However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The Argument of Perigee is the angle measured from the Ascending Node to the periapsis, (perigee point), along the satellite's direction of travel.
