The Velocityy equation (vy = v * sin(Θ) ) calculates an object's velocity in the y direction, the vertical component of its ballistic trajectory based on the total initial velocity (v) and the launch angle (Θ). Velocity Vector Components

The calculator return the velocity in the y direction (Vy) in meters per second. However, this can be automatically converted into other velocity units via the pull-down menue.
The equation (vy = v * sin(θ)) calculates an object's velocity in the y direction based on an angle of motion (Θ) above the horizontal plane. This is a common calculation used in ballistic flight to reflect the upward movement of the ballistic object. This is the equation for the ideal projectile, which means it neglects external forces such as air resistance. Since in the ideal projectile motion model the force of gravity is the only force component affecting the trajectory, and the force of gravity is alligned with the y-component of motion, the gravitational acceleration affects the ballistic y-velocity. However, the x-component of velocity remains constant.
