Using the Dataset Editor Info Tab

From within the Info Tab, you will first need to give your dataset a name.  The name will have to be unique to any other token (calculator, equation, constant or dataset) in your space.   TableInfoTab.png                                   Dataset Editor : Info Tab

In the Options box, there is a check box to “Show Row Info”.  Checking this box will cause your dataset to display a date and time stamp for every record entered into your dataset.

Also in the Options box, there is a button to “Include this item in Public vCommons”.  If you choose this option, your dataset will be available to any vCalc user and be in the vCommons library under your user name, and we encourage people to share their knowledge and efforts by checking this box.  If you leave this box unchecked, the dataset will only be visible to you and then only when you are logged into vCalc.  It will be your private dataset.

Making a dataset available to the public is up to you and your dataset is yours alone unless you choose to share it.

Summary Steps: Using the Info Tab

  1. Type a unique name for the new Dataset
  2. Leave the option for making the item visible (Public or shared) checked (by default).
  3. Later, when done with the Design Tab , you can check the option for including the item in vCommons.
