The Simple Noise Prediction function estimates the distance at which 140dB (see below) of sound could be expected to be achieved based on the TNT equivalent mass of explosives.

Distance (D): The distance is returned in meters. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
Note: 140dB is the environmental noise level exposure at which permanent hearing damage can occur even with short-term exposure. This is also the loudest level of exposure recommended given the aid of hearing protection devices.
