The **Roof Pitch** calculator computes the pitch of a roof based on the rise (r) and the run (R).

**INSTRUCTIONS:** Choose units and enter the following:

**Pitch (P):** The calculator computes the angle of the pitch in degrees and the approximate rise over run (e.g. 4/12)

The pitch of a roof is the ratio of the rise over run. Instead of angles (degrees or radians), a roof's inclination is typically given as the rise over run ratio. To formula for the pitch of a roof is:

P = atan(r/R)

where:

- P = pitch angle in degrees and 12
^{th}ratio (e.g., 6/12, 10/12) - r = rise
