Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence. In an older and closely related meaning, "science" also refers to this body of knowledge itself, of the type that can be rationally explained and reliably applied. There are 5 branches of science namely:
- Earth and Space Science: Astronomy (Planetory science, Cosmology) and GeoScience (Climatology, Geology, Oceanography, meteorology, atmospheric chemistry, and atmospheric physics).
- Social Science: Sociology (Law, Ethics, Economics) and Psychology (Developmental, Cognitive)
- Life Science: Functional Biology (Physiology, Medicine, Ecology) and Cellular Biology (Biochemistry, Evolutionary biology)
- Physical Science: Chemistry (Material, Chemical reactions) and Physics (Particle physics, Thermodynamics)
- Formal Science: Mathematics (Computer science, Statistics) and Logic (Reasoning, Philosophy)
vCalc's Science library contains a rich resource of content to facilitate the empirical nature of these scientific disciplines.
