Photography is the science and art of creating visual recordings of electromagnetic radiation, usually visible light. Photography records images either electronically using sensors or chemically using light-sensitive material such as photographic film.
The photographic apparatus used to capture visual images includes a lens which focus the light reflected or emitted from objects onto a light-sensitive surface. Using the now very common digital camera, the light focused onto an electronic sensor registers an electrical charge at each pixel element of the sensor. The data derived from this charge is processed to form a digital image. Several of these processes are informed and fine tuned using basic and complex mathematical equations.
vCalc's Photography library contains various equations applied in visual recording processes.
