This equation will compute the sizes of the square pieces you must cut to create this quilt block from four chosen colors.

The number of pieces listed below should be cut for each color into:

• small triangles (denoted ST)
• large triangles (denoted LT)
• squares (denoted S).

For the triangles (ST and LT), the count will be for squares which you will then cut diagonally in half, so twice as many triangles are created in the end than the count suggested below.

# Usage

You get to choose the four colors (or patterns) represented notionally here by green, orange, purple and yellow.

Here's the number of pieces to cut:

COLOR 1
count = 8 small triangles (from four squares cut diagonally) of color 1 (ST_(C1))

COLOR 2
4 large triangles (from two squares cut diagonally) of color 2 (LT_(C2))

COLOR 3
5 squares of color 3 (S_(C3))
4 small triangles (from two squares cut diagonally) of color 3 (ST_(C3))

COLOR 4
4 squares of color 4 (S_(C4))
4 small triangles (from two squares cut diagonally) of color 4 (ST_(C4))
