This equation computes the Gauge Factor, the ratio of change in electrical resistance to the strain on a conductive element.  The strain is the ratio of the change in length to the nominal length, L_0.  The change in resistance is measured as the DeltaR/R, where R is the nominal resistance at nominal length.
GF = (Delta R / R_"Nominal") / epsilon, where epsilon = Delta L/L_"Nominal"
