**A**) Assists - (

**Fielding Percentage (FP):** The calculator returns the value as a number. However, this can be automatically converted to a percentage via the pull-down menu.

The **Fielding Percentage** in baseball is the measure that reflects the percentage of times a defensive player properly handles a batted or thrown ball. While a high fielding percentage is regarded as a sign of defensive skill, it is also possible for a player of lesser defensive skill to have a high fielding percentage, as it does not take into account a player's defensive range; a player than cannot get to a ball surrenders a hit instead of having an opportunity to make an out or an error. Conversely, a highly skilled fielder might have a comparatively low fielding percentage by virtue of reaching, and potentially missing, a great number of balls. Fielding Percentage is calculated by the sum of putouts and assists divided by the number of total chances:

`F%=(PO+A)/(TC)`

where:

- `PO` = number of putouts (number of times the fielder tags, forces, or appeals a runner and he is called out as a result
- `A` = number of assists (number of outs recorded on a play where a fielder touched the ball, except if such touching is the putout
- `TC` = number of total chances (assists plus putouts plus errors)
