The American College of Sports Medicine reports there are 2000 steps in one mile. This should result in 2.6 feet for average stride length.
This equation will take as input a number of steps and will return a number of miles.
Obviously the stride length will vary by person, even between two people of the same height and leg-to-torso length ratio, but this can be used as a general guide for number of steps between two places.
