The Floor Paint for Room calculator computes the number of gallons of floor paint needed for a floor area of a rectangular room, deck, slab or portch based on the length and width of the room and the coverage per gallon.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
Floor Paint (nG): The calculator returns the total area in square feet and square meters. However, this can be automatically converted compatible units via the pull-down menu.
The formula for the area of a rectangular room and number of gallons of floor paint is:
A = L ⋅ W
nG = ceil(A/PC)
where:
Most rooms are simple rectangles with a length and a width. The only common departure are rooms with bump-outs. Some bump-outs are angular and taper down from an opening. Some bump-outs have squared corners. To compute the square feet of these floors are simple geometry based on the measurements of the main floor and the bump-out dimensions.
To compute the area of a floor with a different shape (e.g., circular, oval, or polygon), see the Area Calculator.
