The Mass Flow Rate calculator computes the mass flow rate based on the density, velocity of flow, and cross-section area.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

• (ρ) Density
• (V) Flow Velocity
• (A) Flow Cross-section Area

Mass Flow Rate (MRT): The calculator returns the mass flow rate in kilograms per second.  However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

Mass flow rate can be calculated from the density of the liquid (or gas), its velocity, and the cross sectional area of flow.

        M= ρ•V•A 

where:

• M= mass flow rate
• ρ = density at a working temperature.
• V = velocity
• A = flow cross-section area
