The TRUCKING calculator computes the volume and load weight of different transportation containers in different shapes and sizes. First, choose the shape of the transport container. This calculator currently supports:CONTAINER SHAPES Conic Cylinder Capsule Shaped Box Container Spherical Tank
The basic operations of this calculator is to choose a shape and enter the dimensions of the container to calculate the volume. Then one can use the load weight (mass) equations which take the same dimensional information as the volume equations and a mean density to calculate the approximate mass or weight of the load.
The Mean Density Table Lookup button provides the mean density of hundreds of substances ranging from gases, liquids, metals, foods, wood, and earths. The formula returns the mean density of the substances in kg/`m^3` which is the default units for mean density in the mass equations. So if you know the size of your container, and look up the density of the contents, you can compute a good estimate of the load weight.
Theis a function of the volume and the mean density of the substance in the load. vCalc's Trucking calculator provides the mean densities of many common substances. Use that formula first to find a mean density comparable to the substance you're interested in. Copy the mean density, and then use it in the Load Weight function for the container shape you choose.
